The U.S. Small Business Administration has released a single-page form aimed at simplifying the application process to forgive Paycheck Protection Program loans, as well as newly updated and revised forms that meet the requirements of the latest stimulus legislation. 

Congress approved the COVID-19 relief package last month and offered $284 billion in funding to small businesses in need of loans. The funds were used to reduce the economic burden of the coronavirus pandemic. It included a requirement for the SBA to issue streamlined forms within 24 hours of the bill being signed into law to simplify the process of applying for forgiveness, along with conditions designed to facilitate more loans from community banks, especially for minority-owned companies that had trouble getting loans last year.

Second Draw PPP Conditions for loan forgiveness

Second Draw PPP loans for eligible customers are qualified for loan forgiveness if the loan is paid within an 8to 24-week period.

  • The First Draw PPP loan requires that the compensation and employee levels are maintained in the exact same way.
  • The loan funds are used on payroll costs and other expenses that are eligible and
  • A minimum of 60% of the proceeds are used to pay for payroll expenses
  • How and when to apply for loan forgiveness?

The borrower is eligible for forgiveness after all loan proceeds for which the borrower wants forgiveness have been utilized. Borrowers can request forgiveness at any point up to the date of maturity. If borrowers do not apply for forgiveness within 10 months after the end of the time period that was covered the PPP loans are not deferred any longer, and borrowers will begin making monthly payments to their PPP lender.
